Shiliuyun-Xinjiang Daily (Reporters Rayda, Liu Donglai) news: It was a coincidence that we met Wang Wenhui.
On August 15, 2023, the Xinjiang Daily “Road of Prosperity—Belt and Road Reporting Project” interview team arrived at Zhengzhou City, Henan Province. In the evening, while looking for a restaurant after the interview, we came across a store with the word "Xinjiang" by the side of the road. The team members were excited and entered the store.
Corn, flour, chili sauce, muskmelon, watermelon, jujubes, walnuts, yogurt, plum juice, milk beer, safflower oil, sausage made of horse meat, cold-water fish... The wide range of agricultural and sideline products from Xinjiang made us involuntarily marvel, "This is more complete than the goods in the supermarket in Xinjiang."
"There are some products that you even can't find in Xinjiang," said Wang Wenhui, who was stocking up on the products with a confident look on his face.

Knowing that we are from Xinjiang, the young man from Toli County, Tacheng Prefecture, northwest China’s Xinjiang, was excited. He came to Zhengzhou for business. "Please come and have a sit. Let's have a chat. Sorry for the store being a bit disorganized, we have been receiving a large amount of inventory lately." This hospitality-minded Xinjiang man Wang Wenhui told us his story.
Wang Wenhui is the general manager of Henan Kunmansi Commerce and Trade Co., Ltd.. In 2016, he came to Henan alone to open up the market, and now the company has more than 80 Xinjiang agricultural and sideline products franchises in Henan Province.
"I was previously an agent of Xinjiang Xiyuchun Dairy Co., Ltd. in Tacheng Prefecture, and one day my leader found me, hoping that I would come to Henan to open up the market. At first, I was a little reluctant." Wang Wenhui said, he chose to come and try after repeated persuasion. But after a month, he secretly ran back to Xinjiang. "I was craving authentic Xinjiang noodles too much." Wang Wenhui shook his head and said.
After eating the noodles he longed for in Xinjiang, Wang Wenhui, who still remembered his mission, returned to Zhengzhou with Xinjiang products.
"At first, it was a little difficult to open up the market. At that time, the land logistics and transportation between Xinjiang and Henan were not as convenient as they are now, and in order to ensure the quality of dairy products, we used air transportation. And the high transportation costs put Xinjiang dairy products at disadvantage in competing with local dairy products in Henan," Wang Wenhui said.
However, the quality of Xinjiang dairy products is excellent, and coupled with Wang Wenhui's unremitting promotion, Xinjiang dairy products are gradually recognized by Henan consumers. In 2018, Wang Wenhui's first Xinjiang specialty store opened in Zhengzhou City. "At that time, the store only sold dairy products from Xinjiang Xiyuchun Dairy Co., Ltd., and if we want to develop in the long run and steadily, we need to enrich varieties,” Wang Wenhui said.
As the Belt and Road Initiative was put forward, the development of cities along the route has been speeding up, and the supporting facilities have been gradually improved. "In particular, the efficiency of logistics and transportation continues to improve, creating a good space for me to develop." Wang Wenhui said that from selling only one single dairy product in the past to more than 400 kinds of Xinjiang specialties now, the variety of his goods is growing.
During the chat, Wang Wenhui had one call after another. "Sorry, these are all calls to order. We adopt the order based sales model, and we also distribute through sales channels such as milk stations and community convenience stores all over the province at the same time, so that Henan consumers can taste all kinds of high-quality agricultural and sideline specialties produced in Xinjiang fastly,” Wang Wenhui said.
"After 7 years, would you still run back to Xinjiang for Xinjiang noodles?"
"No need. There are plenty of authentic Xinjiang restaurants in Henan."
Wang Wenhui told us that in the past seven years, his business in Henan has gotten better and better, and more and more Xinjiang people are coming to Henan to do business like him. "Although the two places are more than 3,000 kilometers away from each other, propelled by the Belt and Road Initiative, Xinjiang and Henan are gradually getting closer in time and space. Governments from all over Xinjiang have come to Henan to attract investment, and many Henan people have invested and established businesses in Xinjiang, treating Xinjiang as their second hometown. At the same time, there are more and more Xinjiang people like us who come to Henan to invest and develop their businesses. Everyone is fighting for their dreams in each other's hometown," Wang Wenhui said.
"What is your dream?"
"I hope the folks in Henan can taste all the specialties of Xinjiang as quickly as possible."
